Future Archaeology

14 June 2025 – 5 August 2025
with Gallery 3 Portes
Future Archaeology comes second after a first iteration of Archeology, curated by Sophie Fardella in 2023 with Tassos Kaliakatsos, Angelos Krallis and Eleni Stroulia. Future Archaeology will take place simultaneously in two locations: Gallery 3 Portes, and the Atop at Aristi Mountain Resort & Villas. Gallery 3 Portes is a Contemporary Art Space, located in Ioannina.
Conceived as a space for experimentation, Future Archaeology invites artists to push the boundaries of their chosen disciplines by exploring the physical structure of the artwork in its relationship to space. By emphasizing the effects of art—emotional, didactic, informative—eleven artists come together around a shared creative approach: the research process. We aim to create a dynamic, open, and informal space, akin to that of a shared studio, encouraging of unpredictable dialogues. In the words of Sophie Fardella, visual artist and co-owner of 3 Portes Gallery, when the process is more important than the result, it means that the quest is ongoing.
